650kg waste cleared at Marudu tamu
Volunteers gathered plastic bottles, food packaging waste and plastic bags that had accumulated at the popular marketplace.
KOTA MARUDU: Over 60 young volunteers collected 650kg of rubbish at the Weekly Tamu marketplace here recently, as part of an international campaign to address the growing crisis of plastic pollution.

The cleanup was organised by ASEZ WAO, the young adult volunteer group of the World Mission Society Church of God, under its global “2040 Plastic-Free” initiative.

ASEZ WAO, which stands for “Save the Earth from A to Z, We Are One Family,” has been conducting cleanup activities, forums and seminars on environmental issues in countries including Malaysia, the United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Germany, India, Kenya and Uruguay.

Meanwhile, volunteers gathered plastic bottles, food packaging waste and plastic bags that had accumulated at the popular marketplace.
