RANAU: The public is advised not to park vehicles on the left and right shoulders of the road in front of the Petron petrol station in Ranau town, which is also adjacent to Sekolah Kebangsaan St. Benedict, Ranau, as it can pose a risk of accidents.
The district police issued the warning via their Facebook page, outlining several main reasons for the ban.

“One of the purposes of the ban is to ensure traffic safety. The entrance and exit routes of petrol stations are always busy with vehicles stopping to refuel.
Parking on the side of the road can block views and make it difficult for other drivers.
“Vehicles parked on both shoulders of the road also invite emergency hazards. Petrol stations are high-risk areas because they involve flammable materials. Vehicles parked carelessly can disrupt emergency operations if an incident occurs.
“This will also disrupt the comfort of other road users.
Irregular parking causes congestion, especially during peak hours, and affects the smooth flow of traffic in the town,” the statement explained.
The police stressed that legal action will be taken against those who violate the regulations. Authorities can issue summonses or enforce action against vehicles parked in prohibited locations.
In this regard, the police have provided several alternative suggestions such as using the “parking” areas provided around Ranau town and following the signs and instructions of the enforcement officers to avoid difficulties.
This measure, it explained, not only ensures personal safety, but also ensures smooth traffic and the comfort of all road users.
