KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Islamic Religious Council (MUIS) announced zakat fitrah rates for 1447 Hijrah (2026): RM7.50 per person for those consuming imported white rice and RM15 for fragrant rice, marking the first time the higher rate applies.
MUIS Head Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin said the rates are based on one gantang Baghdad (2.7kg of rice), reflecting common local consumption.
