Assisting Aldrin in the leadership team are Danny Wong Yew Hoong as Vice-President I and Simon Poh Chia Chun as Vice-President II. Ho Shi Yin was appointed secretary, while Evon Ling Pei Hsia will serve as treasurer. Woo Soo Poo takes on the role of senior advisor, and Lawrence Yapp Kong Fen was named immediate past president.
The association’s board of directors comprises Shah Fareed Awang Sham, Chong Chi Chung, Vincent Tsen Vui Shung, Ir Peter Wong Neng Kwong, Yong Yee Sun, Chia Cheng Hui, Fo Tzi Min and Ng Yoke Wah.
In outlining his vision, Aldrin said PES will focus on strengthening Sabah’s electrical industry through a strategic framework built on three key pillars: technical knowledge, community economic development and environmental improvement.
He noted that expanding membership will be a priority, including welcoming professional firms such as mechanical and electrical consultants to enhance the association’s capacity and influence.
Efforts will also be directed at improving the capabilities of electrical contractors, particularly in ensuring compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements set by relevant authorities.
Additionally, PES aims to encourage greater involvement from suppliers and manufacturers within the mechanical and electrical sector to facilitate the exchange of engineering knowledge and emerging technologies.
Among the association’s early initiatives are team-building activities, clarifying governance roles, and reviewing its mission, vision and values to strengthen internal cohesion and communication.
Aldrin also highlighted plans to introduce training programmes, develop a continuous learning framework, and collaborate with local institutions to offer short courses aimed at raising professionalism within the industry.
To stay relevant and connected, PES will provide regular regulatory updates and industry insights through its social media platforms, while continuing to organise annual dinners and networking events.
“Leading an association is like running a marathon, not a sprint. It requires clear purpose, strong governance and consistent value delivery to members,” he said.
