KOTA KINABALU: The State Government will continue to strengthen the implementation of Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 as a new acceleration phase to enhance the state’s competitiveness, productivity and economic value while ensuring inclusive prosperity for all segments of society.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said SMJ 2.0 is not merely a continuation of previous development plans but a catalyst for comprehensive change that requires improvements in mindset, work culture and value creation for the wellbeing of the people of Sabah.

He said this at the opening of the Chinese New Year Carnival 2026 at Dataran Deasoka here on Monday, where his speech text was delivered by Rural Development Minister Datuk Rubin Balang.
Hajiji said the successful implementation of the SMJ 1.0 Development Plan had strengthened confidence that Sabah is on the right track, while SMJ 2.0 has been aligned with the 13th Malaysia Plan for the period from 2026 to 2030 to ensure sustainable and strategic growth.
He also emphasised that cultural diversity, multi-racial harmony and close cooperation between the government and community organisations, including the Chinese community, remain key foundations in safeguarding social strength, unity and shared progress in Sabah.
