He said the arrest followed information received from members of the public and intelligence gathered by the police.
Police seized 38 bottles of ketum leaf brew with an estimated volume of 57 litres, valued at RM950, during the operation.
“Several pieces of equipment believed to have been used in preparing the ketum brew were also confiscated to aid investigations,” Shahrudin said.
The suspect is being investigated under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952, which carries a fine of up to RM100,000, a maximum five-year jail term, or both if convicted.
He urged the public to refrain from processing, selling, buying, or using ketum, describing such activities as illegal and immoral.
Shahrudin added that police will continue to intensify operations of this nature to safeguard the welfare of residents in the district.
