Kota Kinabalu: Akbar Said emerged victorious at the Fund-Raising Golf tournament organised by the Sabah Association for the Vision Impaired (Savi), held at Kinabalu Golf Club over the weekend.
His score of 68 captured the gross title and in second place was Osmund David who finished with a score of 76, while Major Razari followed closely in third with a score of 77 (on countback).
The nett title was won by Smith Ationg (67 ocb) followed by Jonathan Isaac Chin (67 ocb) and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam (68 ocb).
Yahya Yusof (68) claimed victory in the senior category. Second place went to Abdul Halikun (69 ocb) and Justinus Langkab (69 ocb) in third, while the top three super senior winners were Joseph Roman (72 ocb), Chong Som It (72 ocb) and Lucas Lo (75).
In the ladies’ category, the title was won by Julia Sergius (69) followed by Angie Ng (70 ocb) and Ellysa Sarah (70 ocb).
Savi president Sabrina Sitawin expressed immense gratitude to all participants, particularly highlighting the involvement of Dr. Joachim.
“We are very pleased to have brought together a total of 179 golfers in the spirit of charity and camaraderie, especially the attendance of Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, which has added prestige and significance to the event.
“Their participation goes beyond the game of golf — it also represents concern, solidarity and support for the visually impaired community,” she said.
