TAMBUNAN: The Wazlian Cup 2025 golf tournament held on Dec 13-14 at Tambunan Golf Club (TNGC) here was successfully organised with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit, attracting male, female, senior and junior players from various districts across Sabah.
A total of 71 male and 18 female participants took part in the tournament, reflecting strong support and positive growth for golf in the Tambunan district.
Tambunan Golf Club President Justin Alip said the tournament is an annual event and will continue to be promoted as one of the key sports in the district.
“Although Tambunan is a small district, we are fortunate to have an excellent golf course. Events like this prove that Tambunan is capable of hosting high-quality golf tournaments,” he said.
He also said that the organisers plan to offer a car as the grand prize for next year’s edition, in an effort to attract more participants, especially young people, to take up the sport.
“Our main goal is to encourage more young people to play golf and to see it as a healthy, competitive platform with the potential to develop to a higher level,” he added.
The official results showed the Men’s Nett category was won by Adnan Daud, followed by Ordine Gilu in second place and Johnny Siompon in third. The Men’s Gross category saw Hermes Amir emerge as champion, while the Men’s Senior category was won by Cipilin Kuibin.
