SIPITANG: Sarawak’s Jaopalisz Ace emerged champions of the Sipitang 2026 Open Borneo Traditional Gasing Championship for the Adun Sindumin Cup at the Sipitang District gasing arena on Sunday.
Jaopalisz Ace defeated KTS UMB 30-26 in the final to receive RM1,000 in cash and a trophy.

KTS UMB, also from Sarawak, finished runners-up and took home RM700, while Jaopalisz Ace 2 and KTS UMC shared third place and received RM350 each.
The championship was officiated by Sindumin Assemblyman Yusri Pungut, who welcomed the strong turnout and encouraging youth participation.
He praised the organisers’ efforts, saying the programme elevated the status of traditional gasing while preserving cultural heritage and fostering sportsmanship and unity.
A total of 32 teams from Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei competed in the two-day tournament from last Saturday (Jan 24) organised by the Persatuan Gasing Ulu Sipitang (Gorgon US).
The closing ceremony and prize presentation were officiated by Yusri, with organising chairman Zainol Abdul Rahim also present.
