Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Padang Berempah Sipitang Cross Country champs
Participants showed great competitive spirit throughout the cross country C’ship where 305 participants from 29 secondary and primary schools took part.
SIPITANG: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Padang Berempah (SMKPB) emerged as the overall champion in the secondary school category, while Sekolah Kebangsaan Meligan (SK Meligan) clinched the overall title in the primary school category at the MSSD Sipitang Cross Country Championship 2026.

The championship, which involved secondary and primary school athletes, including participants from the Special Education Integration Programme (PPKI), was held at Sekolah Menengah Pengiran Omar II recently.

The competition featured several categories: Boys Under-18 (B18), Boys Under-15 (B15), Girls Under-18 (B18), Girls Under-15 (B15), Boys Under-12 (B12), and Girls Under-12 (B12). 

A total of 305 participants from 29 secondary and primary schools took part, including 36 entries from the PPKI programme.

Sekolah Kebangsaan Pekan Sipitang won the overall PPKI title for the primary school level, while Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pengiran Omar (SMKPO) secured the overall PPKI championship at the secondary school level.

The flag-off ceremony was officiated by the Principal of SMK Pengiran Omar II, Asrul Pasok Abdullah.

The closing ceremony and prize presentation were officiated by Sipitang District Education Officer Zulkifle Kassim.

In his speech, Zulkifle said that besides uncovering talents to be developed to higher levels, the championship also helps build students’ character through the application of discipline, leadership, and teamwork values, nurturing disciplined students with a healthy competitive spirit.

Championship coordinator Jimmy Udan expressed his appreciation to all parties for their commitment and cooperation in ensuring the success of the event, including safeguarding the safety and well being of the community.
