IEM emerge champions

Kota Kinabalu: The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) emerged as overall champions in the final event of the 15th Inter-Professional Bodies Games (IPBG) 2025 after dominating the 5km run held at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Sports Stadium on Monday morning.

Organised by the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA), the run was flagged off at 7am by chairmen and presidents of the seven participating professional bodies.

Nearly 300 participants competed across four categories: Men Open, Women Open, Men Veteran and Women Veteran. 

Team points were awarded to the top ten finishers in each category, ranging from 10 points for first place to two points for tenth, with every finisher also contributing one point to their team.

IEM’s victory was boosted by strong turnout, with close to 100 runners representing the institution and contributing significantly to its overall score. 

Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM) finished as first runners-up, while Sabah Pharmaceutical Society (SPS) secured second runners-up.

Other participating bodies were the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM), Sabah Law Society (SLS) and the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA).

The event marked the conclusion of the IPBG 2025, closing the multi-discipline tournament on a note of competitive spirit and sportsmanship.
