LABUAN: The Sipitang Warrior girls’ team emerged as volleyball champions while their male counterparts secured third place at the 2025 Labuan Pekasa Cup Open Under-12 Sports Carnival held recently at the Labuan Youth and Sports Complex.
The boys’ team from Sipitang Warrior bounced back to claim the championship in handball, showing the district’s sporting prowess across multiple disciplines. Another Sipitang-based boys’ team, SKM Vipers, finished fourth in the volleyball competition.

Four players from Sipitang received special awards for their outstanding performances.
Prisscella Cynnthia Olluvia Robby was named best setter in girls’ volleyball, while Lily Charolina Vyerrs Maksuel earned best spiker honours in the same category. In handball, Alexzender Pato Parisi was crowned best male player and Countiho De Sauza received the best male goalkeeper award.
The Sipitang contingent was accompanied by four teacher-supervisors led by Technical and Sports Development for Under-12 Volleyball in Sipitang District Chairperson Pauline Anthony Sigar.
The carnival, organised by SK Pekan Satu Labuan, attracted eight girls’ teams and eleven boys’ teams.
The annual event featured sepak takraw, handball and volleyball as its main competitions, aimed at discovering sporting talent and strengthening bonds among the school community, including parents.
“This success was achieved through proper planning, committed training and the fighting spirit of the players until the final whistle,” said Pauline.
