SANDAKAN: A RM91 million central lecture hall has been proposed for construction at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Sandakan Campus' Sustainable Agriculture Faculty, to meet growing academic infrastructure needs.
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir said the project, under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), will be implemented by the Public Works Department (PWD).

He said the lecture hall is a critical requirement in line with the campus’s development since 2008 and the expansion of academic programmes, and expressed hope that the approved planning would not face delays.
“When the university plans and the ministry decides, the implementing agency must ensure the project is completed according to schedule,” he said during a working visit to the campus at Sungai Batang, Mile 10 here on Thursday.
Zambry said the proposed hall on an eight-acre site is expected to serve as the main lecture centre supporting teaching and learning at the faculty, noted the integration of modern technologies including artificial intelligence in agriculture studies, and also visited the completed RM4.5 million campus mosque which can accommodate up to 1,000 worshippers.
