TAWAU: A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car driven by an unlicensed 20-year-old woman at the traffic lights along Jalan Salleh here at about 7.30pm on Friday.
The crash became the second serious accident at traffic lights here this year, following last week’s fatal incident involving a nine-year-old boy at the Batu 2 Jalan Apas junction.

District police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the collision involved a Proton Iriz and a Honda RS, leaving the motorcyclist with a fractured right leg while the car driver escaped unhurt.
Preliminary investigations found the motorcyclist was travelling from Flat Hijau towards Ambar Park when the lights turned green, while the unlicensed driver was heading home to Taman Hill Top and is believed to have been speeding from the opposite direction.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, with police urging motorists to slow down at junctions and traffic lights and ensure conditions are safe before proceeding.
