KINABATANGAN: The Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election will see a three-cornered fight between Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar, Parti Warisan’s Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman and Independent hopeful Goldam H Salangah.
For the Lamag state seat, voters will choose between BN’s Mohd Ismail Ayob and Mazliwati Abdul Malek in a straight fight.
The line-up was confirmed by returning officer Eddy Syaizul Rizam Abdullah after nomination proceedings at Dewan Sri Lamag here on Saturday.
No nomination papers were rejected during the process, which ran smoothly between 9am and 10am.
Earlier, Naim and Ismail arrived with BN Sabah chairman Datuk Jafry Arifin, BN war room secretariat chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, party leaders and supporters.
Mazliwati and Saddi were also accompanied by party representatives and supporters as they submitted their papers.
The by-election follows the death of Kinabatangan MP and Lamag assemblyman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin on Dec 5, with nomination day set for January 10, early voting on Jan 20 and polling day on Jan 24.
