KUALA PENYU: Six semi-permanent shops were partially destroyed in a fire at Kampung Kayul at around 9.46 pm on Thursday.
Fire and Rescue Station Chief Zulhalim Abidin told Daily Express that the department received the emergency call through 999 and immediately dispatched a team of nine personnel along with a Fire Rescue Truck, Water Tanker, and EMRS unit to the scene.
The station is about 10 kilometres from the location, and the team arrived at 9.53 pm.
“The fire affected six semi-permanent shops, each about 60 per cent burnt.
“Firefighters used two 200-foot hose streams to control the blaze, with water supplied from our Water Tanker,” Zulhalim said.
No casualties were reported, and the estimated damage and cause of the fire are still under investigation.
