SJKC Shan Tao emerge overall champs
All the winners and match officials after the prize presentation.
Kota Kinabalu: SJKC Shan Tao were crowned overall champions in the Soo Shau Kiong Cup Kung Shan Alumni Association Badminton Junior Championship held at the Kota Kinabalu High School hall, recently. 

They took home the champions’ trophy and cash prize of RM800. In second place were SJKC Chung Hwa Kota Belud who were awarded a trophy and cash prize of RM500 and SJKC Anglo Chinese Kota Kinabalu came in third to collect the trophy and RM300 cash prize.

A total of 19 schools from Tuaran, Kota Belud and all over Kota Kinabalu took part in the competition organised by Kung Shan Alumni Association Badminton in honour of Soo Shau Kiong.

Each school was entitled to enter only five singles and five doubles in each of the 11 events held.

The closing ceremony was officiated by Chairman of the Kung Shan Alumni Association, Kota Kinabalu, while the champions’ trophy was presented by Agnes Wee Lip Moi to Yong Li Na from SJKC Shan Tao and cash prize was presented by Kung Shan Alumni Association president Yu Chip Kong.

Meanwhile, former Badminton World Federation (BWF) referee and currently an international referee assessor, Datuk Anthony Linggian said BWF approved Service Fault Devices were utilised during the Under 12 Pro singles events.

“Many of the senior umpires took this opportunity to execute their umpiring skills and I was able to show them how to collaborate the devices before play and also to assist them in enhancing their skills to international standard.

“They were very fortunate and also proud to carry out their roles as service judges and umpires, especially to incorporate the latest laws and regulations of badminton,” he said.
