KOTA KINABALU: The rebranding and expansion of several ministries in Sabah’s new Cabinet reflect the state government’s commitment to keeping development in step with global changes, said Kawang Assemblyman Dato’ Sri Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar.
Debating the 2026 State Budget at the State Legislative Assembly, Ghulam said updated portfolios such as Education, Science, Technology and Innovation; Youth Development, Sports Advancement and the Creative Economy; and Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing were designed to meet modern challenges and nurture future leaders.

He said Yayasan Sabah Group would play a key role as a strategic partner, strengthening cooperation with ministries in education, health and wellbeing initiatives.
Ghulam also expressed confidence in Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s leadership in resolving Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement, citing strong ties with Putrajaya and the High Court ruling affirming Sabah’s constitutional rights under Articles 112C and 112D.
At the constituency level, he raised concerns over aging water pipelines in Kinarut, calling for special allocations under the 2026 Budget, and proposed a comprehensive drainage master plan to address flooding in parts of Kawang.
