The transmission line, synchronised at PMU Mengalong, Sipitang, also included virtual participation.
Joachim said the interconnection enhances system stability, increases reserve margins, and enables energy sharing across Borneo.
Scheduled for commercial operation on 13 December 2025, it will inject 30MW to 50MW into the Sabah grid, improving reliability for consumers and supporting long-term demand.
The project also lays the groundwork for a future ASEAN Power Grid, driving sustainable economic development and advancing Sabah’s energy transition agenda.
