PAPAR: Sabah political leaders must strengthen unity to ensure Sabah and Sarawak emerge as a decisive bloc in determining the formation of the Federal Government after the next General Election (GE16), said Papar MP Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali

He said the current national political landscape shows that no single party or coalition can form a stable government without the support of other parties, making the role of Sabah and Sarawak increasingly significant.

“With about 56 parliamentary seats from Sabah and Sarawak, both regions have the potential to become a decisive bloc for the Federal Government,” he said when met at the Program Sentuhan Kasih, Madani Rahmah Sales Programme (PJRM) and Consumerism Advocacy event at SMK Pengalat here on Saturday.
Armizan, who is also Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister, said Sarawak had shown an example of unity among local political parties, but a similar approach had yet to be fully realised in Sabah.
He said Sabah voters had shown a tendency to support local parties to champion the state’s interests, but unity among political leaders must be strengthened so Sabah can emerge as a strong political bloc capable of influencing national policies and safeguarding the state’s agenda.
