KINABATANGAN: Two permanent terrace houses were damaged in a fire at Taman Permata here on Wednesday.
Kota Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Hairi Otuh, said the department received an emergency call at 4.32 pm via the 999 line and arrived at the scene, about two kilometres from the station, at 4.38 pm.

He added that the operation, involving 12 firefighters, was brought under control at 5.12 pm and concluded at 6.16 pm.
“The first house was about 80 per cent destroyed, while the second house sustained 10 per cent damage due to heat exposure,” he said.
Firefighters extinguished the flames using water from the fire engine tank and a nearby fire hydrant. No casualties were reported.
The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
