Flooding fixed after years without action

Kota Kinabalu: Residents of Taman Sri Kapayan have long voiced frustration over neglected infrastructure, with clogged drains and repeated flooding among their most pressing concerns.

Despite submitting complaints through the previous assemblyman, residents said no action was taken for years.

Newly-elected Kapayan Assemblyman Chin Teck Ming confirmed receiving similar complaints, noting that residents had endured the same problems for more than four years.

“We managed to get DBKK to act on it swiftly. I wish to thank DBKK for their quick response. Without their action, this issue would have remained just another complaint.

Kota Kinabalu: KOTA KINABALU: Fiesta Mega Raya (FMR) 2026 is set to be the largest and most prestigious Hari Raya celebration in Sabah, taking place from March 7 to 18, at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), here.
“There are many follow-ups that need to be carried out, and we are aware of the problems residents are facing,” Chin said.

He revealed that his office had received more than 50 complaints so far, most of them involving basic infrastructure within the Kepayan constituency.

Chin also advised residents in other areas to channel their concerns to their respective assemblymen.

Among the issues raised were uneven, pothole-riddled roads that damaged vehicles, flooding caused by long-neglected drainage systems, water shortages in certain residential areas, and unstable electricity supply, including fallen cables posing safety risks.

Chin assured that his office would continue to follow up on these matters to ensure residents’ concerns are resolved.

He has also shared his telephone number on social media to make it easier for the community to reach him directly.

Many Kepayan residents welcomed the gesture, saying it boosted their confidence and made them feel more comfortable voicing concerns. Netizens also praised the move as a positive and encouraging step.

Chin was previously with PBS before joining Warisan in 2020.
