Kota Kinabalu: A 68-year-old man narrowly escaped injury after losing control of his Toyota Hilux and plunging into a drain along Jalan Damai, opposite Tong Hing, on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at around 8.30am when the man was driving from Taman Fu Yen towards Damai. 

Upon reaching Jalan Damai, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle after accidentally accelerating instead of braking, causing the Hilux to veer to the right side of the road before falling into the drain.

Sergeant Danny was at the scene to investigate the accident.
