The KVC team comprised 10 students aged 16 to 17, Ahmad Mu’ammar Amin bin Amirkarn, Haiqal, Abdul Afkar Sulaim bin Yunus, Beniko Devis John, Ferdi Lasung Suzandi, Nick Syam, Langub Peter, Azizul Hisyam bin Mohammad Latif, Muhammad Adnan Kael Fitri bin Kahar, and Darren Allai.
Although the Sabah team narrowly lost in the finals against Brunei, they vowed to return stronger.
The International Tug of War competition, organised by the Limbang Division Tug of War Association, was split into three categories, Men’s Open, Women’s Open and Under-23.
Team Manager Nirwana Japili, a teacher at KVC said, they were the youngest participants and this was their first appearance in an international tournament.
She said, the team, coached by specialist trainer Norman Chan Yuen Fong, had previously won tug of war competitions in Kuala Lumpur in August 2025 as well as in Kota Kinabalu and Keningau in 2024.
The college Director, Lumang anak Lang, expressed strong confidence in the team’s abilities, noting their high discipline and unyielding enthusiasm during training and competitions.
He congratulated the students and extended special appreciation to the manager and coach for their dedication.
“I believe our college team will achieve even greater success in the future,” he said.
