RANAU: Off-road enthusiasts can look forward to a tougher spectacle at the ‘Kundasang New Year Super Novice Challenge 2026’ next month, where attractive prizes await top winners.
The three-day event on Jan 2, 3 and 4 at Kampung Dodon will feature more than 30 teams from across Sabah as well as entries from other states and Brunei.
Organisers say this year’s edition introduces new obstacles, including steeper climbs, deeper mud traps and a more technical winching zone.
Spectators are expected to enjoy a packed programme as drivers push their skills and machines through demanding terrain.
Organising chairman Fadhli Tajuddin said the competition will adopt stricter safety standards and follow guidelines set by the Sabah Four Wheel Drive Association.
He said the event is likely to draw local visitors, given Kundasang’s reputation for extreme sports and its cool mountain setting.
The top three winners will take home RM8,000, RM4,000 and RM2,000 respectively, with the public encouraged to attend and enjoy the high-adrenaline atmosphere.
