Kota Kinabalu: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-led Government has never sidelined the Chinese community in the State, as reflected in Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s decision to allocate 50 per cent of the six Nominated Assemblyman seats to representatives from the community.
The three Nominated Assemblymen from the Sabah Chinese community are Datuk Ir Chin Su Ying, Datuk Roger Chin and Grace Lee.
Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Kiulu Deputy Division Chief Datuk George Teo said only one of the nine Chinese candidates won in the recent 17th State Election — Datuk Ben Chong, the GRS candidate for the Tanjung Kapor seat in Kudat.
“Chong has also been appointed Assistant Minister of Finance. This proves that Hajiji has never sidelined the role of the Chinese community in Sabah.
“The current GRS-led Government has strong representation from the Chinese community,” he said in a statement today.
Teo also called on the Chinese community in Sabah to continue supporting and cooperating with the State Government in implementing development plans under the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 roadmap over the next five years.
