Kota Kinabalu: More than a decade after her passing, a generous Sabah philanthropist known only as “Madam W” continues to change the lives of orphaned children across Malaysia through a legacy built on quiet compassion.

This year alone, 20 orphanages nationwide will each receive over RM9,000 from her charitable trust, an increase from previous years, offering vulnerable children hope for a brighter future.

Five Sabah homes are among the beneficiaries: Caring for the Future (Malaysia) Berhad, Rumah Putera Harapan Ranau, Pusat Jagaan Woori Jib St. Francis Xavier, Rumah Anak Yatim Tambunan and Rumah Anak Yatim As-Sakinah/Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Papar.

Since 2013, Rockwills Trustee Berhad, the trust company managing her estate, has distributed over RM1 million to children’s homes across the country.

Kota Kinabalu: KOTA KINABALU: Fiesta Mega Raya (FMR) 2026 is set to be the largest and most prestigious Hari Raya celebration in Sabah, taking place from March 7 to 18, at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), here.
Her decision to establish a charitable trust ensures her kindness lives on, supporting orphanages in Sabah and beyond long after her passing.

Madam W’s story highlights how thoughtful estate planning can leave a lasting mark — proving a true legacy is measured not by wealth kept, but by the lives uplifted.

Another inspiring example is Helen, a Johor Bahru businesswoman who died in December 2024.

Through the Helen Trust, also managed by Rockwills Trustee Berhad, her wishes continue making a difference. This year, RM436,762.03 has been donated to the National Kidney Foundation Malaysia, funding dialysis treatments for 35 financially struggling patients.

Both women demonstrate how proper estate planning, guided by capable trustees, can transform personal success into shared hope — extending love and impact far beyond their own families.
