KOTA KINABALU: A teacher from SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha told the inquest into Zara Qairina Mahathir’s death that her understanding of bullying came from Sabah FM, where she heard the definition repeated daily.
Nur Asimah Zaiton, the 55th deponent, said she relied on the radio’s explanation that bullying involved repeated acts meant to hurt someone.
Under questioning by counsel Shahlan Jufri, she affirmed that a single slap or a one-off act like stepping on a student would not constitute bullying, though she would still report it as inappropriate behaviour.
Pressed on whether she should follow Ministry of Education guidelines instead of a radio broadcast, she insisted both were valid sources, adding that Sabah FM was not wrong for its definition.
