Kota Kinabalu: Newly elected Api-Api Assemblyman Loi Kok Liang has pledged to prioritise transparent governance, address pressing local issues and drive inclusive development in Kota Kinabalu following his victory in Saturday’s election.
Expressing deep gratitude to his supporters, team members and volunteers, Loi credited the win to voters who stood for justice and change throughout the campaign.
“Thank you to the voters of Api-Api. Through your ballots, you have shown that the people want hard work, honesty and responsibility,” he said, adding that he views the mandate entrusted to him as both a mission and a responsibility.
Loi said his immediate focus will be on tackling the most pressing issues in Api-Api, maintaining open communication with residents and ensuring transparent, accountable and efficient local governance.
He stressed the importance of collaboration and vowed to work closely with community groups and professionals to support the development of Kota Kinabalu.
“Api-Api’s future does not belong to me alone — it belongs to all residents of Kota Kinabalu. Only through unity can we go further,” he said, underscoring his commitment to building a more inclusive and prosperous community.
Loi outlined plans to engage local businesses, community organisations and residents in crafting initiatives to address key challenges and promote sustainable growth.
He won the Api-Api seat against Thonny Chee (PKR–Pakatan Harapan), Ting Shu Kiong (Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku), Soh Kee Suat (Parti Bumi Kenyalang) and Ng Chun Sua (Parti Impian Sabah), marking the start of what he described as a new journey dedicated to serving Api-Api with unwavering dedication.
Loi urged voters to continue offering oversight and support as he works to deliver meaningful progress and positive change to the constituency.
