Kota Kinabalu: SAPP which broke ranks with the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah coalition on the eve of the Sabah election said it respects and accepts the outcome.
The swearing in of the Chief Minister early Sunday has put to rest any worries of instability that were feared to arise in the event of a hung Assembly, it said, congratulating Datuk Seri Haji Hajiji Hj Noor.
It wished the Chief Minister the best, saying the task is not going to be easy.
“SAPP is encouraged by the call of Hajiji for parties to close ranks after the election for the greater good of Sabah,” said Presisent Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee (pic).
SAPP similarly called on all parties to unite in continuing “our valiant fight for Sabah rights, particularly in achieving the 40% net revenue which is a burning issue that is at the top of people’s minds.”
There is also the ongoing legal case to reclaim Sabah’s continental shelf and territorial seas.
He said in pursuing Sabah rights, Sabahans must be united and resist divide and rule tactics by outside forces that aim to weaken Sabah.
“People are tired of the endless politicking and squabbles. People want solutions to their problems. Sabahans want unity,” said Yong.
The party contested six seats but lost in all, two of which fielded his children.
