PAPAR: Caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, also and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman, expressed confidence that the coalition will once again be entrusted to lead the State Government after tomorrow’s polls.
He said he was optimistic about the outcome as he met voters during the “Rumah Kita, Kita Jaga” campaign trail in Pantai Manis today.
Hajiji said his confidence was shaped by observations throughout the two-week campaign period, where he felt voters were receptive to the GRS manifesto and its line-up of candidates.
He added that Papar would see more coordinated progress if all three elected representatives in the parliamentary constituency were from GRS.
“I am sure that if all three assemblymen here are from GRS, they can galvanise efforts to develop Papar with Member of Parliament Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali,” he said.
The three GRS candidates contesting in Papar are Datuk Gulamhaidar Bahadar Khan in Kawang, Datuk Juil Nuatim in Limbahau and Datuk Pg Saifuddin Pg Tahir Petra in Pantai Manis.
Hajiji, who is defending Sulaman, reiterated his call for voters to choose GRS tomorrow, citing what he described as a proven track record over the past five years.
He urged voters not to be swayed by allegations from the opposition, saying that “some of them have already been proven to be a failure” during their previous time in office.
“They only managed to hold on for two and a half years before the people rejected them, so why must we give them a chance?” he said.
He said issues raised by Saifuddin in Pantai Manis would be addressed if GRS returns to power, adding during a separate stop in Meruntum, Putatan that voters should avoid repeating the “mistake” of choosing a party that had previously failed to govern.
Hajiji said the GRS-led administration had delivered through the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 1.0 plan, and he pledged continuity under the incoming SMJ 2.0 framework.
