SANDAKAN: Upko will consider cooperating with parties that are 100 per cent local when the Sabah election is over, said Upko President Datuk Ewon Benedick (pic).
He also said Sabahans need to be kept informed about progress on the State’s special 40 per cent revenue allocation outlined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
He said the funds are important for building public facilities needed by Sabahans.
“Regular updates on this special allocation are essential so all Sabahans can follow current developments and collectively fight for this right,” Ewon said at the Jelajah Upko Sabah First held at the Gum-Gum Community Hall, in Batu 16.
Present was Upko’s candidate for the Gum-Gum seat, Peter Jr Naintin.
Ewon also noted the current water supply issues, pledging his party’s commitment to resolving them.
Defending Peter’s candidacy, Ewon pointed out the candidate’s corruption-free image and consistent grassroots work helping residents through welfare initiatives.
“We strongly oppose anyone involved in corruption issues,” Ewon said, urging voters to carefully choose leaders for the next five years based on integrity and anti-corruption credentials.
