KENINGAU: GRS’s Bingkor candidate Rafie Robert believes in “walk the talk”. He said efforts to develop Bingkor had long been planned through the BMBR development plan as a result of discussions, research and ideas with his father, Datuk Robert Tawik.
“My selection as a candidate is not just to continue his legacy, but to continue the plans that we have built together for the people of Bingkor,” he said.
“For the youth, in particular, my priority is to provide more educational, skills training and entrepreneurship opportunities so that they have a strong foundation to build their future. At the same time, I want to improve sports facilities and youth activities so that they have a safe and healthy space to grow.
“I also intend to support young entrepreneurs by facilitating access to financing, training and the provision of more organised business spaces. Through human capital development, leadership and volunteering programmes, I want to ensure that the younger generation in Bingkor is truly prepared to be the main driving force for the future of this area,” he said.
Village roads will be upgraded, especially in agricultural areas.
In tourism, he wants to strengthen ethnic identity and make Bingkor a community tourism hub, while education will be supported through early childhood programmes, and health will be strengthened with free services and a better welfare system.
He said arts and culture will be strengthened to maintain local heritage, the economy and sports will be boosted through community activities and support for local entrepreneurs, while the environment will be protected along with development for the sustainability of future generations.
“I will also ensure that several GRS government initiatives can be channelled directly to the youth, including skills training programmes, community activities.”
In the November 29 election, Rafie will face nine candidates from Star, Upko, Warisan, GAS, PKS, PIS, KDM, Bebas and SPP in a ten-cornered contest.
