KOTA KINABALU: Caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has urged the Sabah Law Society (SLS) to provide detailed input to support the State’s push for the 40 per cent special grant from the Federal Government.

He said the SLS’s views, to be submitted to the State Attorney-General’s Chambers and the State Finance Ministry, would help strengthen Sabah’s position in ongoing discussions with Putrajaya.

Hajiji made the request after meeting SLS president Datuk Mohamed Nazim Maduarin and former president Datuk Roger Chin on Tuesday, where he noted the importance of expert legal backing following the High Court’s recent order for Federal–State talks within 90 days.

He said the SLS would also be invited to join the team shaping the framework for the proposed Sabah Sovereign Wealth Fund, which aims to support long-term financial stability and boost State revenue.
