Kota Kinabalu: A 53-year-old man was fined a total of RM10,000 by the Sessions Court here for allowing two undocumented immigrants to enter his premises in Keningau.
Zuraini @ Ajoi Karim, 53, pleaded guilty before Judge Hurman Hussain to permitting two Indonesian men to be in a farmhouse in Kg Bingkor Baru at 1.15am, on May 29, this year.
Zuraini was ordered to pay a fine of RM5,000 or six months’ jail for each immigrant found on his premises.
Each charge under Section 55E(1) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 carries a jail term of up to a year, or a fine of between RM5,000 and RM30,000, or both, for each undocumented immigrant found on the premises.
Zuraini paid the fine.
Meanwhile, a 59-year-old man claimed trial to a similar offence.
Abmanisim @ Kamil Siron pleaded guilty to allowing an undocumented 19-year-old Indonesian man to enter two farm houses in Kg Binaong, Keningau, at 1.35am on Sept 26, 2024.
The court fixed Dec 9 for mention for the prosecution to serve the relevant documents.
The accused was released on bail of RM3,000 with one surety pending the date.
He was also charged under Section 55E(1) of the Immigration Act.
Prosecuting Officer Mohd Sharifuddin Salim from the Immigration Department appeared for the prosecution.
