RANAU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Sec-Gen Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said it is better for Federal and state government ties to be strengthened.
“Now, many leaders from Sabah in the Federal Government hold important positions and portfolios.
“It is better for us to establish good relations than enemies with Federal because there are many benefits to be gained. We also have the right to realize efforts to develop this state,” said Masidi.
He said in this election, GRS should be able to form a government with a two-thirds majority, which is 55 seats, with the cooperation of Pakatan Harapan (PH).
“We are cooperating with PH, but we are the ones who set the conditions and make our own decisions in administering this state, GRS has shown its ability to protect and strengthen our rights.
“Therefore, let us unite to ensure that local parties continue to win,” said Masidi.
He said the success of establishing SMJ Energy Sdn Bhd, an oil and gas company wholly owned by the state government, is a significant achievement in the effort to strengthen the Sabah economy.
“SMJ Energy was established with a capital of RM50 million as a result of negotiations with Petronas to provide Sabah with more space to be directly involved in the oil and gas industry. Today, the company is worth RM5 billion in terms of assets. This is because of the good relationship with the Federal Government,” he said.
He said that the GRS government has determined to open up more job opportunities for locals, especially the people of this state.
