SANDAKAN: The Communications Ministry has not detected any online campaign misconduct throughout the first eight days of campaigning for the 17th Sabah Election.
Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching said social media has become a preferred medium for candidates to reach voters, supported by stable internet coverage and no reported disruptions.
She said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) continues to monitor online activities and will act on any reports received.
Teo also reminded the public not to misuse social media by spreading false information, noting the rise of fake accounts and confirming a recent case involving an unverified claim that the Prime Minister was barred from entering Sabah.
She added that 185 media personnel have used the three media centres set up in Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Tawau, and encouraged rural reporters to utilise NADI centres for reliable connectivity.
