PITAS: Efforts to strengthen maritime security in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (Esszone) continue to be enhanced as the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) and the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) carried out a site survey for the proposed construction of a maritime post in Kampung Pegasaon Mapan-Mapan, here, Thursday.
Sabah and Labuan Maritime Director, First Admiral Maritime Mohd Khairulanuar Abd Majid @ Razali, said the survey was to ensure that security aspects, location suitability and operational requirements are thoroughly assessed before finalising the development phase at the site.
“If this location meets the criteria and operational needs, further action will be taken to proceed with the proposed project,” he said while leading the visit.
Esscom senior officers led by Commander DCP Datuk Victor Sanjos, Esscom Deputy Commander Brigadier General Mohamad Ismail Kamarudin and Esscom Chief of Staff for Sea Operations, First Admiral Maritime Abdul Razak Mohamed, also joined the visit.
