TAMPARULI: The One Voice Mega Concert for Unity on Nov 22 at Dewan Tun Hamdan here is set to welcome worshippers from across Sabah in what organisers hope will be a meaningful gathering of music, faith and community.
Organising pastor Ben Bryan Robit of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church in Kapa said the idea grew from a desire to bring churches together in a “positive, hope-filled atmosphere.”
He said music has long been one of the strongest unifying forces, cutting across backgrounds and cultures to bring people closer.
“The heart of this concert is unity, not because everyone is the same, but because we choose to move together in respect and love,” he said.
Ben said the concert will feature a mega choir involving churches from Kota Belud, Tenghilan, Tuaran, Tamparuli, Kundasang and Kota Kinabalu, with preparations underway since June.
He said the organising teams handling music, technical support, media, decoration and safety have shown “extraordinary commitment” throughout months of rehearsals and roadshows.
“In shared singing, differences fade; what remains is a focus on goodness, hope and faith,” he said, adding that the event aims to be a gathering point to “celebrate, connect and strengthen relationships.”
Ben said attendees can expect fresh arrangements, modern worship elements and “inspirational messages presented through the combined voices of the mega choir.”
He said coordinating hundreds of participants has not been easy, but “every team has worked hand in hand,” keeping preparations on track despite logistical and financial challenges.
Ben hopes those who attend will leave uplifted, saying, “If they come burdened, I hope they go home renewed, and if they come as strangers, I hope they leave feeling like part of a larger family.”
The concert begins at 3pm and admission is free, with the public encouraged to “come as one, go home as part of One Voice.”
The One Voice Mega Concert for Unity is a Christian-themed programme intended for non-Muslim attendees only.
