TAMBUNAN: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate for Tambunan, Datuk Victor P Paut, expressed gratitude to Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor for the trust in him to represent the state constituency in the coming election.
Victor said his candidacy is a responsibility that would motivate him to work harder to realise the aspirations of Tambunan’s people.
He urged Tambunan voters, including those living outside the district, to return and fulfil their civic duty on polling day, pointing out that broad-based community support is important for a GRS victory in Tambunan.
Should he be given the mandate, Victor pledged to bring maximum development to Tambunan and eliminate the district’s list of hardcore poor families through strategic planning, improved welfare programmes and systematic, inclusive development initiatives.
His 100-day manifesto includes installing solar lights in villages and building covered walkways to enhance basic amenities for rural communities.
Long-term priorities focus on modernising agriculture, improving infrastructure and creating employment opportunities, particularly for local youths.
On Sabah’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), Victor said this remains a non-negotiable obligation.
He welcomed the Prime Minister’s stance that Sabah’s rights need not be pleaded for, vowing to pursue them more assertively through proper documentation and official channels.
Victor also called on the GRS election machinery to maintain dignified campaigning, avoiding slander, crude language, personal attacks and sensitive issues relating to race, religion and royalty to ensure a mature and professional campaign.
“Ultimately, our goal is not just winning the election, but ensuring Tambunan is led by someone truly capable of bringing change and progress to the entire community,” he said.
