SANDAKAN: Sabah DAP chairman Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe said Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) priority is strengthening the economy to create more job opportunities, especially for young people.
He said the hope is for Sabahan youths working outside the state to eventually return home as new investments generate better employment prospects.
Phoong said this during a media conference at the Tanjong Papat Operations Room in Kampung Sim-Sim, where Elopura candidate Vivian Wong and Tanjong Papat candidate Tang Szu Ching were also present.
He noted that recent studies show Sabah’s unemployment rate has fallen significantly since the pandemic, supported by investments including silica exports from Kudat that continue to spur local economic activity.
Wong said she is contesting to raise community concerns such as water, roads and electricity, while Tang highlighted issues of cleanliness and other daily challenges faced by residents.
