TAWAU: Sabah People’s Hope Party (PHRS) President Brigadier General (R) Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah denied claims by former Deputy President Datuk Rina Jainal that there are attempts to sabotage her defending the Kukusan seat.
He said he did not wish to speak ill of anyone, even after Rina decided to resign from her position and membership following her suspension.
“During the years she was with PHRS, did she ever wear the party’s shirt, acknowledge her membership, or her position as Deputy President? Her supporters have never been supportive of PHRS,” he told a press conference with GRS-PHRS Kukusan candidate, Samsiah Usman, at the PHRS office in Taman King Fook, Friday.
Regarding the timing of Rina’s suspension, just three days before the nomination despite the disciplinary committee’s decision being made last year, Liew explained that they had actually given her a chance by suspending her instead of expelling her immediately.
“Other party presidents would have expelled her, but I suspended her because I was still considering the matter,” he said.
Liew called on the people of Kukusan to give their support to the GRS-PHRS candidate, Samsiah Usman.
He said despite being a “small and poor party,” PHRS would continue its mission to serve and protect the welfare of the people of Kukusan comprehensively.
