KOTA KINABALU: DAP’s Luyang candidate designate Chan Loong Wei (
pic) lodged a report at the Sabah MACC headquarters on Thursday after online allegations attempted to link the Tun Fuad Stephens Botanical Park upgrade project to his party.
He said the claims suggesting political ties between the contractor and certain elected representatives were baseless and risked undermining public trust in an important community project.
Chan explained that the tender and appointment for the project were made in 2022 when DAP was still in the opposition, stressing that his party had no authority to influence government decisions at the time.
He said filing the report was necessary to allow an independent investigation to counter misinformation and ensure the project remains transparent and compliant with proper processes.
Chan urged the public to rely on verified information, calling on accusers to present evidence to the MACC and urging political actors to campaign on policies instead of fuelling smear attempts.
