KARAMBUNAI: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) Sec-Gen Senator Datuk Edward Linggu said the Nov 29 election is more than selecting candidates or winning seats. It is a clear signal that the people of Sabah want their state to be administered by local parties and local leaders.
“If Sabah’s administration falls into the hands of outside parties, we fear that Sabah’s rights may once again be altered or compromised,” he said.
He noted that Sabah has successfully reclaimed several key state powers, including authority over electricity management and certain marine resources, powers which he stressed must be protected by a government that understands Sabah’s aspirations.
“We have seen history. Sabah’s powers were once centralised and taken away. Today, we have begun regaining some of those rights. But if outside parties govern Sabah, many things can easily change again. That is why we must defend our rights,” he said.
Linggu said Sabahans are now aware of the importance of empowering local parties and are ready to entrust the mandate to leaders who champion Sabah’s future.
