Kota Kinabalu: Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi called on Sabahans to unite under the coalition’s new slogan of “Bikin Balik Sabah” or Rebuild Sabah at the launch its state election machinery at Pacific Sutera, Sunday.

Zahid said the slogan reflects BN’s determination to revive the state’s economy, address long-standing infrastructure problems and restore Sabah’s pride after years of decline.

“For seven years, we have watched Sabah’s economy deteriorate, unemployment rise, and basic needs like water and electricity remain unresolved.

It is time to “Bikin Balik Sabah” to rebuild the economy, create quality jobs and unite the people again,” he said.

Zahid said if given a new mandate, BN would prioritise clean water and stable electricity supply across Sabah within three years.

“I am giving Bung and his team three years to ensure that every household in Sabah enjoys clean water and continuous electricity,” he said.

He also emphasised that BN Sabah is fully led by locals. “Sabah is for Sabahan. BN Sabah is 100 per cent led by the people of Sabah,” he said, rejecting claims that the coalition is controlled by headquarters in Peninsular Malaysia.

Bung, in his speech, rallied party workers to remain united and focus on victory rather than personal preferences.

“BN is not coming with empty promises, we are coming to return the glory of the people of Sabah after the 29th. BN is not a new party; it is a people’s movement that continues to shape the nation’s future,” he said.

He urged all party machinery to “forgive small matters” and move forward together. He did not elaborate.

“Don’t argue over candidates — what matters is that they can win and serve the people,” he said.

He also took aim at local-based parties, accusing them of failing to deliver.

“They’ve governed twice, yet Sabah remains unchanged. They talk about ‘Sabah for Sabahan’, but it’s all empty talk.”

Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) President Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup reaffirmed his party’s loyalty to BN, citing its role in protecting Sabah.

“Do not question our loyalty. BN has always defended Sabah and its people since 1963,” he said, calling for renewed commitment from all coalition members.

MCA President Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong echoed the coalition’s spirit of continuity and collaboration.

“We ‘Bikin Balik Sabah’ — no empty promises. BN has proven it can bring progress; now it is time to continue that legacy,” he said.

The launch saw a strong crowd of supporters, with party flags waving and chants of ‘Bikin Balik Sabah!’.

Zahid described the Nov. 29 state election as a defining moment for Sabah’s future and urged BN members to campaign with discipline and unity.
