Kota Kinabalu: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) expressed full support for the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Presidential Council’s stand on the High Court’s decision affirming Sabah’s constitutional right to the 40 per cent special grant under Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution.
PBS Secretary-General Datuk Julita Majungki said the landmark ruling reaffirmed what the party had long fought for, that Sabah’s rights are constitutional entitlements, not favours to be granted at will.
“This historic decision proves that Sabah’s rights form the very foundation of our partnership in Malaysia,” she said in a statement, Saturday.
Julita said PBS viewed the matter not as a political issue but one of national integrity and constitutional honour, noting that the 40 per cent entitlement was part of the understanding that led to Sabah joining Malaysia through the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
