KOTA KINABALU: A total of 110 recipients from the asnaf community benefited from a contribution and community outreach programme held at Masjid Al-Kauthar, Tanjung Aru, on Saturday.
The event, officiated by Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Tanjung Aru representative, Dr. Ritchie Jay Cheng, was organised in collaboration with the Sabah Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN).
The programme also featured the Rahmah Sales, attracting hundreds of visitors from nearby areas.
Various activities added to the festive atmosphere, including Quran recitation and azan competitions, a dart and coconut bowling challenge, and a blood donation campaign that received encouraging public response.
Dr. Ritchie said the initiative aimed not only to strengthen social solidarity but also to promote a form of politics grounded in service to the people.
“We want to bring politics based on real work, not mere rhetoric.
"Gagasan Rakyat Tanjung Aru is committed to helping all communities, in line with the aspirations of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who emphasizes people-oriented leadership and the Sabah Maju Jaya vision,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to the mosque management, volunteers, and agencies involved, adding that similar programmes would continue to ensure the welfare of the asnaf and youth remains protected.
