PAPAR: The recent acceptance of several leaders from other parties into Parti Warisan is clear hypocrisy as it was previously quick to accuse Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) of being a “nest of party hoppers”.
GRS Deputy Sec-Gen Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said Warisan considered such actions acceptable when it served the party’s interests but wrong when it benefitted others.
“In fact, (leaders from other parties who join Warisan) are given a red-carpet welcome — including a press conference to celebrate their entry, “ Armizan said, Sunday.
Armizan, who is also the Member of Parliament for Papar, said Warisan has been a “hub for defectors” since 2018.
He said the formation of the Warisan-led state government after the 15th General Election (GE15) was due to party hopping.
“In 2018, a state government had already been formed, Chief Minister taken the oath of office and Cabinet ministers sworn in.
“Then suddenly, a new government (Warisan/Upko/PH) emerged and other people were sworn in. This clearly shows Warisan had already normalised party hopping in a much bigger incident,” he said.
He said it is good that Warisan is helping to clean the GRS stables, even though these people only chose to join Warisan on the eve of the 17th State Election (PRN17).
“If they truly believed in Warisan, why didn’t they join earlier? Why wait until just before the election to suddenly ‘believe’ in Warisan’s struggle? I think we can all figure that out,” he said.
PGRS Pitas Deputy Division Chief Datuk Harun Ismail, PGRS Pantai Manis Division Information Chief Amri Abu Bakar, and LDP Tanjung Kapor Division Chief Datuk Peter Chin Kee Yong joined Warisan on Oct. 31.
