45 participants attend taekwondo seminar in Putatan

Kota Kinabalu: A total of 45 participants took part in the ITF Taekwon-Do Technical Seminar (Series 5) and State Level Black Belt Promotion Test held at the Youth and Sports Department Complex in Putatan on October 11.

The nine-local bodies they were representing are Kinabalu District Taekwon-Do (ITF) Association, Putatan District Taekwon-Do (ITF) Association, Cemerlang Emas Kota Kinabalu Taekwon-Do (ITF) Club, Cemerlang Emas Putatan Taekwon-Do (ITF) Club, Cemerlang Emas Papar Taekwon-Do (ITF) Club, Wira Papar Taekwon-Do (ITF) Club, Utama Papar Taekwon-Do (ITF) Club, Satria Putatan Taekwon-Do Club, Taman Fulliwa Menggatal Taekwon-Do Club and Ummi Al- Hidayah, Menggatal Taekwon-Do Club.

The one-day programme was jointly organised by Sabah State ITF Taekwon-do Association (PTNSITF) and Wira Papar Taekwon-do (ITF) Club.

The speakers were ITFM (International Taekwon-Do Federation of Malaysia) executive committee Master Wee Teck Jien, PTNSITF president Arif Ade Rizal Pahlevi Mohd Zen, deputy president Mohd Ruslan Norjaya Chew and Datuk Ladislaus Maluda representing the Malaysian Red Crescent.

Programme chief Wera Azlan Hj Ali said their main aim was to further enhance the quality of learning and also to ensure that all Black Belt members in this region have a common structure in technical aspects.

“We highlighted the organisational structure of PTNSITF to all the participants and also provided specific training to all the candidates in their preparation for the Black Belt (DAN) promotion test,” he said.

The closing ceremony was officiated by Companies Commission of Malaysia’s (SSM) board member Datuk Hj Pengiran Saifudin Hj Pengiran Tahir @ Datuk Ngian.

He called on the participants to abide by the ITF Taekwon-Do Pledge and avoid resorting to negative activities such as bullying or fighting.

He also congratulated those who passed the Black Belt test and hoped they would one day get to represent the country in the Olympics.
