TENOM: UPKO President Datuk Ewon Benedick confirmed the party will contest the Melalap seat in the upcoming Sabah state election (PRN-17), urging Unity Government supporters to back UPKO’s candidate.
He said having a government-aligned and local representative would ensure better development for the area.
Ewon, also the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister, highlighted UPKO’s long roots in Melalap and confidence in reclaiming the seat.
Dismissing claims that Sabah federal leaders are agents of Malaya, he said they are agents of Sabah advancing the state’s interests through initiatives like Tamu Desa and SPUT.
He also challenged other local parties to show their federal achievements, reaffirming UPKO’s commitment to Sabah’s progress.
